Cartel Mining Mesa, Makeb

Wow, been a while since I have posted here. I will give a brief rundown on what I have done gaming wise:

I left STWOR because I was getting a little bored with the game and the World of Warcraft expansion Mists of Panderia was almost out so I decided to go back to WoW. I leveled a few toons, ran the new Scenarios, and Raids and enjoyed all the new stuff the expansion had to offer, but with such a long history playing WoW, the shiney newness of the expansion started to wear off.

At about this same time I re-connected with a friend that I had played WoW with for years, he was huge into SWTOR and had played it since launch. I rejoined SWTOR and started leveling an Operative Healer. My friend is an incredible PvP’er, but I have never been that good. I tailored my Operative for pure PvP healing and had some of the most fun PvP’ing I have ever experienced in any game.

But, since end game SWTOR is still lacking we both tired of the game and decided for a change and played Diablo III for awhile. Had fun doing that, but to me that game is more of a diversion, not something I want to play day in and day out.

My friend decided to give Guild Wars 2 a try and really wanted me to join him, but I really didn’t think I would like it. I kept playing Diablo III, but finally caved and bought GW2, I leveled one toon to the low 70′s, but just couldn’t keep going. I just didn’t like the game.

I had pre-ordered the SWTOR expansion as soon as announced and the release was soon approaching. I figured since I had already paid might as well check it out. Boy am I glad I did, Bioware has definitely made some little and big mistakes in this game, but I feel they did a really good job on the new planet in the expansion, Makeb.

I have actually only leveled my main toon to the new cap of 55. I have enjoyed the new content, doing dailys, running the new hard mode flash points, and have even started in on the new raid. Concentrating on gearing my main guy. I have also raised all 14 crew skills to the new level of 450.

I am going to work on updating this site and posting  more about the expansion and SWTOR 2.0

It’s good to be back :)

I think for the time being my main is pretty much done, what do I do now?

Ever since patch 1.3 came out I have been running the random Group Finder hard mode almost every day. Doing that along with the Black Hole weekly and our server merger rewards I have been able to attain 8 pieces of Black Hole gear. I also have 4 pieces of Rakata, a Campaign Relic and my Matrix Cube. All 14 pieces are augmented. That makes my Sorcerer pretty well geared and the only upgrades would be some Campaign Gear from hard mode Explosive Conflict. I could also keep acquiring Black Hole gear and rip the mods out and put them in my Rakata pieces. I have 2 pieces of Rakata for the set bonus which reduces the cool down on my number one heal. I could get 2 more pieces for the other bonus, but it’s only +50 Force which isn’t that big of deal. I am almost never out of force (OOF?) I like the look of the Black Hole gear better than the Rakata gear, so I doubt I will worry about the 4 piece bonus. Here is the link to my profile on Ask Mr Robot armory

I have had fun running hard mode Eternity Vault and Karraga’s Palace with my guild. We have started running story mode Explosive Conflict but have yet to clear it. I honestly have no desire to run any nightmare ops, but I will if guild needs the help. I did win the roll recently for the vehicle drop from SOA! Desler Avenger

I pvp’ed a lot when the game first came out and still really haven’t had a big desire to get back into it. If I do it will probably be on my Bounty Hunter tank. Speaking of which, I have been slowly gearing him up and he is mostly Columi with a few Black Hole pieces, so hard mode flash points are now pretty easy. Maybe I will take him into Eternity Vault or Karrags’s Palace sometime when my guild does an alt run.

I am continuing to run the daily hard modes and doing ops. I am still working on my 1st Republic toon, a smuggler, he is now 43. I wanted to try a different kind of healer so I started a new bounty hunter and having a lot of fun. If I am playing him I am que’d in the group finder. I have run Hammer Station and Athis more times on this guy than all my other toons combined! Been really fun, definitely a different type of healing.

I will probably spend more time on my alts while waiting for the new ops , flash point and HK-51.

Server Merges

To the chagrin of Bioware fan boys everywhere I firmly believe the whole server fiasco was 100% Biowares fault. I would sure like to know what giant leap in server technology took place between launch and the recent server mergers that allowed Bioware to dramatically increase the server population? Why did they not increase server population/instances at launch instead of opening a ton of servers instead? Someone at Bioware made that decision and it was the wrong one. Period.

Enough on that rant. As far as the transfer of my toons go, everything went smoothly and my previous dead server is now locked. It would be very interesting to know what the sever population caps are now. Even late at night or early in the morning there are at least 2 instances on fleet, sometimes 3. During prime time up to 5! Definitely liking that. One major item i am not liking with the huge populations is now I seem to get dc’ed more than ever. I hope it’s an issue Bioware is working on.

Patch 1.3

In this patch I was most looking forward to the Legacy Character Perks, Augment Kits and the Group Finder. Of course 1.3 encompassed a whole lot more, but those stood out. On my 50′s the Legacy Perks I bought were all 4 Priority Transports, the 3 levels of the repair droid, the field mail droid and the 2 levels of companions selling junk items faster.

Since I have all Crew Skills maxed out, I am able to craft all the Augment Kits and Augments I need. I have almost all my gear on my Sorc augmented. I have 3 pieces left and waiting until I get upgrades then will augment them.

Group Finder

Bioware did a pretty good job on this. Works pretty well. I ran 5 HM’s in a row one day without a hitch. But that’s not to say there aren’t issues. Recent patches have addressed some Group Finder problems but a major one centers around the aforementioned dc’s. If you get disconnected during a Group Finder Flash Point, there is a good chance you won’t get credit for the random run and won’t receive your 5 Black Hole commendations. When this happened to me I opened a ticket and they did eventually give them to me. Two additions to the Group Finder I would like to see is an estimated wait time and being returned to your location upon completion. Another minor annoyance, sometimes Group Finder que times can be pretty long for DPS, almost if not instant for tanks and usually only a matter of minutes for my healer. If you are not paying attention and keeping your character active in-game you may get logged out and that 30+ minutes in que was just wasted. You will have to log back in and start over.

Etc.

I now have 4 pieces of Black Hole comm’s gear and working on number 5. I finally participated in my first raid since raiding in WoW Burning Crusade! I went back to wow for both Litch King and Cata, but never raided. Last week I healed HM Eternity Vault with my guild and had a lot of  fun, picked up 2 Rakata pieces so my healer is pretty much the best I can do outside of running the HM of the latest raid.

It’s funny, my healer has over 21k health and sometimes running HM’s thru the Group Finder I have the most health in the party. At least most of the time the tank beats me. I think I have run Group Finder groups at least 30 times or more and only acouple of those have we had to kick someone because they sucked. All but one of them were completed successfully. One group we had 2 members leave then the Group Finder bugged out and we had to just give up. Over all the Group Finder runs have been fun, ran Flash Points I hadn’t done in a long time and now I know them all really well. Except for Lost Island which I have yet to do.

I will continue to run random FP’s to get the Black Hole comms, raid when I can to experience that. I have also been running my Marauder thru randoms to slowly gear him up. My poor powertech tank which I did play a lot hasn’t received much attention lately :(

I recently paid for another 6 months and continue to play every single day. I don’t plan on going anywhere, and definitely have ZERO plans of playing a panda, if ya know what I mean :)

Since the server I play on is basically dead and even though I wouldn’t have thought possible it’s getting worse.

As I stated in my earlier post, my play time mainly consists of doing the Black Hole dailies on my 3 50′s so I have sorta developed a routine.

I always start with my Sorcerer, he is the fastest of my 3 with his very nice AoE (hey that rhymes!) then switch to my Powertech and lastly my worst geared 50 my Marauder.

Since most of the time I am alone in the Black Hole area when I do these dailies, the mission No Trace Left, the first 3 groups I scan will complete it. The next 2 missions Control the Battlefield & Asset Liquidation I try to kill the mob groups that are around the crates that will become clickable in stage 2. After completing Control the Battlefield and stage 1 of Asset Liquidation, I basically retrace my steps and destroy the crates before the mobs re-spawn. This completes stage 2 of Asset Liquidation then I head to the last stage and kill the elite spawn.

I do Hypermatter Directive next. I have done it so many times that I have an exact route I take to each crate and know where each probe drops so I never have to fight a mob. I complete the mission in less than 90 seconds.

I do Glow last. It takes a few minutes to kill the mob groups and activate the 4 switches. At this point I am finished and fast travel back to turn in the missions.

Total time is about 15 minutes. Usually around 50 minutes to do 3 times.

Also as I have stated I am usually alone here and on the imperial side there are 4 Security Chests that spawn so I get all 4 the first time thru and by the time I am on round 3 they have re-spawned so I get all 4 again. Each chest has 3.5k credits average and a green lvl 50 item. Times that by 8 and definitely worth the time to grab them.

All total with mission rewards, credits and junk items from mob kills, 8 security chests I usually make around 175k and a total of 18 Daily Commendations. Not bad for 50 minutes of playing.

The time I spend playing SWTOR has been considerably less for weeks now and the main reason is very low server population, or maybe its very low percentage of the population that use to play on this server is still playing on this server. The guild I am in use to be one of, if not, the biggest on this server, but they decided to re-roll on a more populous server so the guild is essentially dead here. I have too much invested in all my toons to start over on a new server, so will stick it out until the much-anticipated server transfers arrive.

Even as the population was on the decline I would at the very least be able to do the Hard Mode FP daily, but now it’s hard to find a group on Empire side and almost impossible on Republic side. Prime time empire fleet numbers on a good day are now in the 40′s. Use to be 180-200+. During the day maybe a dozen. Republic side is worse, maybe 20′s on a good day and I am often alone on the Republic fleet outside of prime time hours. Have not seen any planet over 10 in a long time.

I have 3 50′s in the empire and acouple crafting lowbies. I am leveling my 1st Republic toon, a Smuggler. My routine is to run the Black Hole dailies on my 50′s because they are fast and easy. (except the heroic, I am usually alone so hard to complete the weekly) Then I will play the smuggler or just not play until the next day.

I have all crafting, gathering and mission skills maxed, so not much to do there. I am pretty much loaded with all the crafting mats I need and money is not an issue. I could do other dailies but really no point, my main has over 800 Daily Commendations!

Really only two things to do, PvP or Raid, but with the very low server pop PvP has too long of que pops and not sure how many guilds are even raiding on my server.

I understand why this has happened, happens with most MMO’s in some way or another, but I think actions by Bioware made the problem worse.

I know server transfers and LFG tool are coming, I am REALLY looking forward to both of them! So I will just keep doing my daily routine until then.

BTW, a low pop server does have acouple positive points, like hardly any competition for resources or wasting time running HM FP’s :)

Lately I have been spending a lot of time on my alts. I have 4 alts, a Bounty Hunter, Sith Warrior, Imperial Agent and an Inquisitor that’s an Assasin. I wanted to experience all the class story lines, they are pretty darn good, but I also wanted to have more crew skills. I like being totally self sufficient, I don’t like going to the GTN for anything if I can help it. I want to be able to make it. Between all my toons I now have all 4 gathering skills, all 4 mission skills and 4 out of 6 crafting skills.

  • Bioanalysis – 400
  • Scavenging – 400
  • Slicing – 400
  • Archaeology – 400
  • Underworld Trading – 400
  • Treasure Hunting – 400
  • Diplomacy – 400
  • Investigation – 400
  • Biochem – 400
  • Cybertech – 400
  • Artifice – 400
  • Synthweaving – 400

Very expensive to level all that!

I have been doing the ilum dailies on my Inquisitor mainly for the cash. If you do all 6 you will earn approximately 66k credits, but there is one quest that has been bugged for the last couple months and you can only do it once a week if you are lucky. I could earn a lot more if I also did the Belsavis dailies but the ilum ones are pretty fast and they earn enough.

The main alt I like the best is my Sith Warrior. I made him a pure dps’er and really enjoy missioning and the class story line. As of now he is level 41 and will most likely be my 2nd level 50. The next closest alt is my Bounty Hunter tank at level 31. It will probably be awhile before I get them all to 50 but that’s OK, it’s all fun.

As far as my main, I have been doing more PvP, both the daily and weekly PvP missions for Warzones and ilum. I now have 5 pieces of Champion gear and currently saving towards the Champion light saber. I have also run Boarding Party, Battle for ilum, Fallen Emporer and Kaon under Siege hard mode flashpoints, all fun but no drops for me yet. I do want to get 2 pieces of Columi gear for the set bonus which reduces the CD of one of my main heals Innervate

So basically the for the near term anyway I will be leveling my Warrior and still working on getting more gear for my Inquisitor. Maybe even try to get into an Operation, have yet to do One of those.

I have actually been playing around with my alts, I have one of each class. They are all fun to play and each classes storyline are excellent.

As far as my Inquisitor goes, I have done the dailies on ilum and Belsavis enough times to get fully outfitted with the daily commendation gear. I now only do the dailies on ilum because they are easy and pretty quick. There are 6 total with one of them being a 2 person Heroic. If you do all 6 it’s a total of 8 Daily Commendations and around 67k credits. Not bad.

I do some PvP here and there, but so far I have only managed 1 piece of pvp gear, so kinda lame in he pvp world right now.

I have been running hard mode Black Talon, but haven’t run any other flash points on hard mode yet. I have yet to finish the flash point D7, tried a couple times but one of the boss’s keeps bugging out. I also haven’t done Fallen Emperor or the new Kaon Under Siege. I am in a pretty big guild that has a couple raid teams, but the raid schedule and my schedule just don’t seem to mesh up too well, so none of that either.

Just means I still have plenty to experience in this game.

On my “todo” list is to update my Talent Build page, I made a couple tweaks to the build.
