We finally left El Paso and hopefully we are good to get to Yuma. After the parts were fixed inside the transmission and we were still having problems, they replaced a computer and that seems to be working. We only drove about 60 miles today since we left the repair shop at rush hour, plus we didn’t want to push it after so many repairs…
We are just happy to be able to get to eat dinner and sleep in our coach tonight after five days in a hotel room…

We heard from the repair shop Saturday morning. Apparently the part we needed didn’t arrive so we will be here until at least Monday. But the good news is the repair shop in San Antonio is taking responsibility for our second break down, so this repair will be covered by them. It shouldn’t cost us anything.
Since this hotel has no rules about leaving the cat alone in the room, we decided to go for a drive around town. We drove around for awhile–El Paso is a huge city, but there really isn’t much in the way of tourist destinations. There are a few museums, but we didn’t really feel like going to any of them, and since our passports are locked in the safe in the coach we couldn’t go into Juarez, Mexico. So we just drove around, then we went to Wal-Mart to get some snacks and breakfast for the next couple of days.
Best scenario the part we need will arrive first thing Monday morning and they will be able to get us put back together and on our way by Monday afternoon. That could get us to Yuma by late Tuesday. I guess we just have to wait and see…

We left the casino around 9:30 Thursday morning and headed towards Tucson. We needed fuel, so we stopped after about ten miles at the pilot station on the border of Texas and New Mexico. Kevin got us fueled up and went in to pay while I pulled forward to let the truck behind us get into the fueling station. All I did was start the motor, and the check transmission light came on and the motor home went into safe mode. I was able to keep pulling around and get out of the flow of traffic, but we couldn’t go far. We called the repair place in San Antonio to find out what we should do, and luckily they have a branch in El Paso as well. We again called our towing company and they sent someone out to tow us to the repair shop–on the opposite side of town-about 37 miles.

Once we got there, we sat around for awhile, but they didn’t have any info for us before we had to find another hotel. We were looking for something cheap since it was just one night and we ended up at a very old motel six that was a bit on the creepy side
It was also very noisy…
We stayed in the motel until check out time, then headed over to the repair place. We sat around all day while they were deciding what was wrong and stuff. They think they found the problem, and the part should be in tomorrow, so we could be back on the road tomorrow night…

We are back in a hotel, but this one is way less scary…

We left San Antonio early this morning for our longest drive day back to Yuma–about 550 miles. The coach ran great. I was a bit nervous at first after the problems we had on Friday, but we had no problems this time.
Actually it was a very pleasant drive–hardly any traffic, not too much wind, nice smooth highway, and even some scenery along the way. We are staying at the Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino just outside of El Paso and just over the border in New Mexico. They have eight parking spots with water and electric hookups for RV’s, and they only charge $5/night. We will be here Tuesday and Wednesday night, then head to Tucson on Thursday morning.

We spent the weekend in the hotel, most of the time in the room. I did go to a mall about ten miles away for a few hours, but I just looked around. Kevin stayed in the room with the cat.
Kevin talked to the repair place this morning and they are saying the coach could be ready by 6:00 tonight, but it may be tomorrow just as easily. They won’t know for sure until they get inside and start working. Since we have nowhere to go to wait if we check out, and there is a good chance it won’t be ready until tomorrow, we decided to pay for one more night here at the hotel. Kevin will probably go down to check on the progress this afternoon, and to pick up a few more things from the motor home.
Hopefully we will be on the road to Yuma in the morning…
*Update: We were able to pick up the motor home just before 6:00 tonight. We will still stay in hotel anyway–the coach is parked in the hotel parking lot so we should be able to get an early start in the morning.

We left the park on time this morning with no problems. We got about 50 miles out of town and decided to pull into a rest stop when something bad happened. The coach lurched and went out of gear, then just stopped. We were right in the entrance to the rest stop, so we tried to back out of the way a little, but the big rigs could barely get by us. We called our emergency service and they sent a tow truck out. We waited a little over an hour for him to come, then it took about an hour to hook up and go. We followed the tow truck in the car back through San Antonio to the East side of town where the recommended repair service was–about 75 miles.

Once we got to the repair place they looked at it and think they know what the problem is, but of course it is Friday so they won’t even start on it until Monday. We are staying in a hotel. With the cat. Until probably Tuesday. So far he is doing fine, but it has been a long, stressful day for all of us. And we really can’t do anything with our extra time in SA because we can’t leave the cat in the hotel room by himself for more than 30 minutes. So we still don’t get to go to Sea World.
