The First Nine Days…

Posted by Cynthia

After two years of preparing and planning, we have now been living full-time in our RV for nine days. We still have several boxes that we have no room to unpack, as well as a few “need to go through” boxes. And we have some frozen food in the freezer of the house we are parked in front of. The transition from a large house freezer, plus a backup in the garage, to a small RV freezer will be tough for us. We like buying in bulk at Costco and the Grocery Outlet, and we both love our desserts!! So we are eating up the extra, and will then know exactly what we can have at any one time.
So what has the first week been like? Very smooth, actually. Since we are parked on our own property, we have been able to let the cats roam around freely. They have gotten used to the motorhome since it has been parked by their house for two years, and they are comfortable in it. After the second day, they were coming in and out of the motorhome just like they did at the house. Obviously they cannot do this everywhere we will be, but we were happy to see that they adapted to the move very quickly.
The way we are parked at this house, we cannot put out the bedroom slide, so it is a bit of a squeeze back there. We installed a row of closet-organizer dressers, and the bed touches them when it is all the way in, so the only way to the closet or the far side of the bed is climbing over it, and I cannot get into the middle dresser drawers, only the top and the bottom. It has not been a big problem, but it has been an inconvenience.
Well, that’s enough for now. More to come on our first few days of full-timing!!

Bathroom gut job

Posted by Kevin

Hoping that a total tear out of the bathroom would not have been necessary, but it is pretty much gutted now. After ripping off 3 layers of flooring, we found the floor boards around the toilet to be completely rotten, you could squeeze them like a sponge and water would run out. Cut out most of the rotted boards and one cross member is pretty bad also, so that will need to be replaced. Will be nice when done.
