A Quick Update

We have been working hard at getting all of the trim painted and installed. Kevin measures and cuts the pieces, I paint them, and we put them up together. It takes a long time, mainly because of the paint drying time. And when the trim pieces are installed, we have to go back and fill the nail holes and paint some more!! I am very happy with the result, however–it makes the house look clean and bright.

We are going to try and decide on the kitchen countertops today. We had hired our interior painters to come and install tile, but they backed out, saying they were really busy. Now we have to decide on something–we want to do tile still, but we really don’t have the equipment to do it ourselves, and we don’t want to spend too much more money. We are nearly done with everything else, so I don’t want the kitchen counters to hold up putting the house on the market, so we need to figure out what we are doing, and soon.

We have been here two months now, and we still don’t have a place for everything we brought with us. It has been easier than I thought to have only a tiny freezer–we just have to be more choosy at the Grocery Outlet:) The refrigerator is actually more difficult than the freezer. There is really only one place for large items, and since we use so much milk, that space usually has two gallons of milk in it(I buy two at a time because our Safeway charges $3.49 for one, or two for $6.00). The doors work great for tall skinny things, so we have two pitchers that fit in one door for kool-aide and tea. Everything else has to be fairly small–no big jars of pickles, no watermelons, etc–unless of course we are down to one gallon of milk.
