First Full Day in Woodburn, Oregon

Posted by Cynthia

We slept in a little this morning, then I took the cat out for a walk.  There is a picnic/play area here at the park, so I carried the cat over to it so he could get some exercise.  We walked around for awhile, but it was muddy from all of the rain, and the cat wanted to go places he wasn’t allowed, so we went back.  I had to carry him back as well.  He does not like to walk where a person or a car might sneak up on him and get him:)

We then decided to do some shopping.  We needed a better sewer hose and a few other things from Camping World, so we went there first.  They had the sewer hose kit Kevin wanted on sale, but they were sold out.  We will have to go back, but the one we have will work for the time being.  We did buy a few small things.  Wal-Mart was the next stop.  The Wal-Mart here is the biggest one I’ve ever seen, but we didn’t want to spend too much time or money, so we just bought some bakery items and produce and left.  Our last stop was the Grocery Outlet.  It is in a fairly new strip mall, and is clean and nice inside.  Hopefully it will stay that way…

When we got back, I took the cat out again, but stayed closer to the coach this time.  He mostly just smelled around the site and didn’t really walk that much.  Then Kevin and I took a quick walk around the park to check it out.  There is a pool, but not open yet, a nice laundry area and meeting room, and a small shop.  We are right next door to Woodburn Company Stores, and there is a gate from the park directly to the mall.  Pretty neat.

The rest of the day we didn’t do much, although we desperately need to get rid of some extra stuff while we are staying near my parents.

Seattle to Woodburn, OR

Posted by Cynthia

We got up around 9:30 and started to get ready for our trip to Oregon.  We didn’t really unpack, so there wasn’t too much to do.  By the time we left the RV park, it was just after noon.  The weather was not great–some sun, some rain, some hail the size of marbles, a little thunder & lightning thrown in for fun–an interesting trip for sure. We are staying at the Portland-Woodburn RV Park.  It is just off I-5 in Woodburn, Oregon.  It is not very interesting–just a flat lot with some grass and parking pads.  They do have a pool, but it is very cold here, so I doubt if we will use the pool.  We are prepaid for a month, but we may stay longer if we find enough to do here. We are next door to a huge outlet mall, and plenty of restaurants, so if we decide to stay for awhile, we can both get summer jobs.

I got up at around 6:30 today to walk the cat. He had spent a lot of time looking out the window at the snow and the geese and ducks, but did not go outside at all on Friday.  He was restless all night since we were someplace new.  I thought if I got him outside, he would calm down and go to sleep for a little while longer, but he didn’t.  So I never really went back to sleep.

We didn’t do much today, but we did go to Costco.  I wanted to get some extra coffee from the Costco here before we left, because they roast their own blend and I really like it.  We also bought Kevin some jeans, and a few other things, including a really cool set of collapsing collanders.  They are part rigid plastic, part silicone, so they fold almost flat.

We then went back to the RV park and got ready for our long drive to Woodburn tomorrow.  I walked the cat a few more times, and he actually seemed pretty happy to walk up the little wooded path behind the park.  For a cat, he really seems to accept the leash fairly well…

Although we are only about fifteen minutes away from where we have spent the last nine months. Today was my last day at Macy’s, so we couldn’t go too far. We are staying at the Lake Pleasant RV park in Bothell, WA. We will be here for two nights, then we are heading to Portland, Oregon, where we plan to stay for at least a month.
