Tuesday: more cabin cleaning
Posted by CynthiaWhen we signed in for work today, there was a styrofoam cup sitting on the counter with our names on it. There were keys to four of the big two-bedroom cabins in it. We took that to mean that we were cleaning cabins today. We got our golf cart and our cleaning supplies and headed out to the cabins. It took us right about four hours to complete cleaning on four cabins. I do the bathroom while Kevin is cleaning windows, then he does the stove and microwave while I do the fridge, the sink, the coffee pot, and the counters. Then I start sweeping while he checks the A/C, the lighting, the smoke detectors, the TV, and the front porch table. He then finishes the sweeping of the front room and the patio while I start to mop. While I finish the mopping, he is loading up the supplies and opening the next unit. Not too bad when working as a team
After lunch, we checked back in to see what was needed, and there were four more keys in our cup. Boo. Turns out, those four keys were for some of the newly finished cabins that will be rented this weekend for the first time. All we had to do was check them over and make sure that they were OK to be rented out. Some of them were missing some equipment (like a trash can or a dish draining rack), the A/C was not working on one (which we handed off to the maintenance man), and all of them needed some touch up cleaning of the sinks and the floors. They hardly took any time at all, so when we were done with the first four we were assigned, we went ahead and finished the last three that had been assigned to someone else. (She was already busy on another project and we still had some time.)
That basically finished our day, so we signed out. The owners arrived right as we were finishing up, so we told Jan, the manager, that if he needed to talk to us about the snack shack they could come get us. They never did, but we wanted to be available if he had questions or comments.
