Posted by CynthiaIt was kind of a rainy, cloudy day here at the park. We were working all day, but at one point we could hardly take orders because the wind was so strong and the rain was so loud. The storms here are impressive, but never really last that long. After the storm, it got sunny and very humid, and the campers all went back to their activities. We had a good day at the snack bar, but not a record breaker–it was only our second busiest day so far. Yesterday was the busiest Friday by far, but today was not as good as it could have been. Mostly because of the rain storm. The pool was closed for awhile in the afternoon due to weather, and permanently in the evening. It closed two hours earlier than normal, so everyone went back to their sites and did not order food. I am not sure how they BBQ’d in the rain, but after the pool closed, we were dead.
We have been here almost two months, and have about four more months to go. It is nice here (aside from the heat, the humidity, and the bugs), and the job is relatively easy, but we will be ready to go when our time is up. We really have no idea what we want to do next. I think we want to stay in the southern states where it is relatively warm all winter, but we don’t know where. Or if we will look for another work camping job, or take some time off and travel for awhile. I would definitely like to take at least a little time off between jobs to see some of Texas. We basically drove through as fast as we could to get here, so all we really saw was freeway. And although we have done some sightseeing on our days off, there is a lot more to see. I guess we will post our resume when the time comes and see what offers we get…
