Friday: back to work on the snack shack

Posted by Cynthia

We worked 10 - 7 today, and since most of the Memorial Weekend crowd won’t show up until this evening, we worked on the equipment for the snack shack. We took the little pizza oven apart and sprayed it with oven cleaner then power washed it, then we did the same with the autofry unit we will be using. We got the tables placed where we wanted them, and a plumber came out and got the two sinks installed and working. It is finally starting to look like a kitchen. We also have two used freezers that need a good cleaning before we can use them, but I only got about half way done with that before our evening jobs started.

At around 4:30 , Kevin had to go and set up the laser maze, while I was scheduled in the office. We had sweated all day long cleaning equipment, and now I had to go and greet arriving campers. At least it was nice and cool in the office. Kevin had to stay out in the heat. There were hundreds of people to get checked in and placed in their sites, but the policy here is that people have to prepay their entire holiday stay, so the check in process is simple. They are given a waiver to fill out for the water park, a pass for their car(s), and wrist bands to wear. It still took around eight people to get check in done, as well as rent out the golf carts, sell store items, and whatever else needed doing in the office. It seemed to go smoothly from my point of view, although there were a few people who had reserved specific sites, and they had been changed for one reason or another, and a few packets that had not been made up. But all in all, considering that everyone here is fairly new, it went really well.
