The one thing about this project that I was a little apprehensive about was the fact I had to drill a rather large hole in the floor of my coach.

I decided the area underneath the refrigerator had enough open space so I could run the hose and wire and also mount the switch/hose plate next to the drawer that was also under the refrigerator.

Finding a point I could measure from that would be the same from inside the coach and inside the storage compartment was not that easy. I narrowed it down to a place I thought would be close and did a test drill. Turned out to be pretty good. I drilled the hole about an inch closer to the outside wall than my test drill point. Ended up I could have drilled around 3 inches away from my test point and that would have allowed the hose to bend closer to 90.

After cutting the hole in the floor I then needed to cut a rectangular hole where I wanted to mount the switch/hose plate. Cutting the hole was easy, the material used for the “wall” is pretty thin. This caused a problem though, the switch/hose plate is designed to be installed in wall material that is thicker, so I ripped some 1×2 and placed behind the wall material to build up a little thickness.

After installation of the switch/hose plate, I then ran the hose and wire from the storage compartment up to the plate and connected those. Then down in the storage compartment I cut the wires and hose to the needed length.

The next task was to decide where to mount the vacuum itself. It comes with 2 “L” brackets that attach to the back of the unit and offer a number of different mounting possibilities. I decided to just mount it on the floor of the storage compartment and used the screws that attached to the back mounting points of the unit to attach it to the storage compartment wall.

The final steps were to attach the hose and wiring. This storage compartment has ac outlets on the ceiling so I ran the power cord up the back wall and across the ceiling to the outlets.

Not real difficult and this vacuum works very well.
