Inverted Satellite Dish Stand

I had seen pictures on the internet of inverted satellite stands people had made and I decided I wanted to make one too. The advantage of mounting the dish in this fashion is it sits nice and low to the ground which really lowers its profile in the wind, it makes it very stable.

The design is very simple, a “T” shaped 3 legged stand with the mounting point near the back. I went to Home Depot and bought the pvc pipe, 90 degree elbows and acouple of tees. I then cut the pieces to approximately what I thought would work, dry assembled to see how it went together and I needed to make more cuts on a few pieces. I then installed the dish to see how it all looked. I took it back apart and glued all the pieces, once glued its very sturdy.

As far as pointing the dish goes, you still need to point the dish at the correct satellite in the same manner, except for the elevation you can’t use the same number on the scale. Since the dish is basically rotated 90 degrees, take the elevation you would normally set to and subtract that from 90, then set the elevation to that number using the scale on the side of the dish.
