Key Safe

I thought it would be a good idea to put some kind of spare key holder somewhere on the coach. I had thought about one of those basic magnetic type that you use on cars but,
1) Those aren’t secure at all
2) Although the magnets are usually very strong, they may be jarred hard enough to come off.
So the idea of a house type key safe sounded like it might work. I went to the hardware store to look at them and I figured it would work very well.
1) Very secure with a changeable combination
2) Unit itself is very strong, need a sledge hammer to smash into it
3) Made to mount to a house, mounted properly not coming off without some serious effort.
Now the main question is, where to mount it. On our coach there is one storage compartment that does not lock because it is where the propane fill is. I thought that would be a good place. There was a cross brace that came from the engine area to the storage area frame and that looked like a really good place to mount it. I just opened the key safe and used the holes as my template, I marked and drilled. I used bolts and fed them from the back side of the brace going into the key safe and then the nuts on the inside of the key safe. Tightened everything down and it is very secure. I think it works really well.
If someone really wanted to get into the key safe, they probably could, but it would take some effort and time. Plus they would have to find it.
