Powerstrip in kitchen

A little project to add a convenient power strip in the kitchen. Originally the only outlet for the kitchen was on the end of the counter right below the countertop. This proved to be a bad location if you were trying to plug something in that was on the far side of the kitchen, the cord just wouldn’t reach. Only have 2 outlets also meant a constant juggle of plugging and unplugging items to be able to use what you wanted.

The power strip was purchased at Home Depot and is 3 feet long with 6 outlets. It is part of a system used for “modular” conduit type wiring, you can safely add outlets, switches and power runs almost anywhere.

Installing was very easy, it could be screwed in place or it also came with double sided tape on the entire length of the back. We used this method because the unit didn’t weigh very much at all. The only real modification we had to make was installing a power cord, we did not use the fitting normally used to connect power. What we did was cut the end off of an extension cord and then wired that into the outlet strip, then that plugged into the out that serves the kitchen.
