Headlight Lens Polishing

The headlight lens’s on our coach were beginning to get a little foggy. They weren’t turning yellow, just cloudy enough to start to effect the headlights. I picked up a 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System and gave it a shot.

Before starting:

First step in the process was to use the 500 grit disc, passing over the the lens a few times. If your lens didn’t look bad before, it looks ruined now!

After using the 500 grit disc:

Second step is basically do the same thing with the 800 grit disc.

After using the 800 grit disc:

After 800 grit

Next step is to use the 3000 grit disc and water then wet sand the lens. After that is the sponge disc with the rubbing compound and if all went well its crystal clear!

After 3000 grit disc, and then the rubbing compound:

After 3000 grit, then rubbing compound, DONE!

Everything went just as the instructions showed. I used a cordless drill with a battery that wasn’t fully charged, so had to replace the battery mid way thru, besides that went well and maybe took 30 minutes or so.
