Today we visited all the requisite Abraham Lincoln sites in Springfield. We kind of went in reverse order in that we went to his gravesite first, then to the Lincoln Museum, then to his home and neighborhood national park. We had just recently been to a big cemetery in Memphis, and the one here is even bigger, but even the older tombstones are not as fancy and ornate as the Memphis cemetery tombstones were. I still included a few pictures I took of the cemetery.
The Lincoln museum was pretty good. And the park created around the house that the Lincolns lived in was really interesting. Many of the homes in this neighborhood are from the same time period, but not many are in such good shape…
When we got back to the fairgrounds, we decided to check out the clydesdale auction they were having in one of the buildings this weekend. I took some pictures of the horses, but most of them were quite blurry since the room was dark and the horses were always moving. We both thought the prices they were going for was a little low – $5,000 to $7,700 for the few we watched.
There were a few food booths open for the auction goers – we had to get one of these giant chocolate chip cookies!!
We reheated last night’s pizza for dinner, so I took a couple more pictures to show just how thick it actually was–much easier once it was cold.

Yes, I would think 5 to 7,000 would be a low bid for a Clydesdale
horse but what i know about horses is nil. I just think they are a beautiful majestic horse. It looked as if the face of Lincoln perhaps was of bronze–anyway it looked as if everyone touched his nose as it really had a shine to it. I really enjoy all the pictures and videos–thanks.
