Two More Days Off

by Cynthia on November 16, 2009

This weekend is the big Homestead Nascar race weekend, so the campground will be packed with race fans.  We have had Thursday and Friday off every week since we have been here, but this week we have Monday and Tuesday off.  That means we only worked two days before we got our two days off, so we don’t need to do anything.  Last night, we decided to have dinner at Sonny’s BBQ.  We haven’t had barbecue since we left Waller in April, so we were looking for a place to get some.  There are a couple of local places that have barbecue, but we had seen Sonny’s when we went to Walmart, and it looked like a nice enough place, so we went there.  I had a pulled pork dinner with sweet potato and seasoned green beans and corn bread.  Kevin got their super combo.  It came with chicken, pulled pork, ribs, and some sliced smoked beef.  He got french fries, cole slaw (that I ate) and some garlic toast.  I don’t think either one of us even ate half of our food–we will have at least one more meal with the leftovers.   We would both agree that it didn’t beat Country Boys BBQ in Cashmere, but I thought it was a pretty close second, at least in the pulled pork category.

After dinner, we went to Walmart–the only one in the area that has a grocery department–and it was an absolute disaster.  I guess they sell so much food on the weekends that they just can’t keep the shelves stocked.  We really only needed milk, but they were out of 1%, so we left without buying anything.  We then made a quick trip to Home Depot to get a new sprayer for the kitchen sink.

I don’t know what we will do on our early days off.  It has finally cooled down some, but Kevin really has no interest in being outside on his days off after working outside every day.  Maybe I will go find something to do by myself if I get bored…
